Entry from: El Chalten, Argentina Entry Title: "Mountains, glaciars and Christmas asado" Entry: "Thomas: After a short bus ride from El Calafate we arrived in the capital of trekking, ice and rock climbing. Rebecca: We had been looking for a friendly and quiet place to spend Christmas and were a bit disappointed that this 500 soul village was so packed with tourists that it was almost impossible to find accomodation. Anke and I searched for 2 hours! T: Well, I was taking care of the luggage in the meantime. Not that bad a choice, listening to Jack Johnson and watching the impressive mountain scenery on this beautiful day. Finally, we found a nice hostel for the first night and figured out that in this packed village we had to choose dorms if we didn't want to go camping. R: And after the snoring Israeli guy with the dangerous looking girlfriend had left, the 4-bed-dorm was fine. T: And so were the hosts in this family-run accomodation. R: On our first day, we walked to a waterfall, a short easy walk through the valley with views of the surrounding mountains. The next day, Thomas rested while Anke and I went on a 3-hours horseback-ride along the river. It was really cool to canter across the steppe and through the river. T: That's for girls.
