Northwest model 6 shovel levers

Northwest model 6 shovel levers Northwest machines were unique, with a different control layout, but many productivity features. For this reason, they were used on many large highway + dam projects, and high production quarry + mining work. Operator comfort in hot weather was improved by the ability to open up the whole side of the cab. The larger NW shovels had "crowd assist", where the hoist rope goes up over the end of the dipper stick, so that the hoist helps crowd. That is the large sheave spinning just behind the crowd shaft.
