More information can be found on my website at ( www.ElevAider.com ) In this video I show you the early signs of rope wear. The inside of this elevator rope has a powerful lubrication called cosmoline. As the rope stretches this lubricant is squeezed out as and has a way of working itself into the tiniest places including the brake core. It feels gummy and sticky to the touch and will cause brake lift failure if not cleaned up. Solution? Keep cleaning down the machine, lubricate the ropes and replace them when possible.
